Customizing your desktop is one of the options that you can configure on your computer. You can customize your desktop background and your screensaver, and you can even set up a desktop slide show on your computer. To set up a desktop slide show, you just need to make sure that you have the images that you wish to use in your slide show in the “My Pictures” folder of your computer. The process of setting up a desktop slide show on your computer is relatively simple.

Step 1

Place the images that you wish to comprise your desktop slide show in your “My Pictures” folder of your computer. Your “My Pictures” folder will usually be located within your “My Documents” folder.

Step 2

Navigate to your control panel by clicking on “Start,” “My Computer” and then “Control Panel.”

Step 3

Click on “Appearance and Themes” and then “Choose a Screensaver,” which will open the screensaver tab of the “Display Properties” window.

Step 4

Click on the drop-down menu text box that appears beneath the “Screensaver” heading and select “My Pictures Slideshow” from the drop-down menu.

Click “OK” to set your “My Pictures Slideshow” as your desktop slide show.

  • The image files that you wish to use in your desktop slide show must be in your “My Pictures” folder in order for them to be in your slide show.
  • These instructions were designed using Windows XP, so instructions may vary slightly depending upon your operating system.

  • You can also download free slide shows from the various screensaver websites.
