How to Sell Art on Craigslist
By Morgan O'Connor
Whether you wish to regularly sell your own artistic creations or simply sell a single piece from your personal collection, Craigslist can help. This site can provide an easy way to make sales to local people. Unlike other online sales sites, you do not have to deal with the hassles of shipping your fragile art. Instead, you can meet the buyer or buyers in person and make the exchange. List your art properly for the best response.
Step 1
Visit your local Craigslist site.
Step 2
Click the "arts+crafts" link in the "for sale" section, which is located near the center of the page.
Step 3
Click the "post" link in the upper right corner of the page.
Step 4
Select "arts & crafts" for your category, and then choose the location nearest you. Select a more specific location on the next page if you wish, or opt to remain with only the general location.
Step 5
Provide a title for your post. You might wish to include the artist or subject of the art here. Type your desired price for the piece of art in the relevant field, and then enter your email address into the two fields provided for the purpose.
Step 6
Write a description of the art into the Posting Description section. This should include specific information about the piece of art, such as its size, condition, material. You can specify whether the art is original or a reproduction, its appraised value if relevant, its provenance and any other details you think a buyer might wish to know.
Step 7
Click "Add/Edit Images" and follow the prompts to upload one or more images of the art. This is not necessary to make the post, but may help a buyer fall in love with the piece or see its condition more clearly.
Step 8
Click "Continue" when you are done. This takes you to a preview of your ad. Click "Continue" again if you are happy with it.
Step 9
Visit the inbox for the email address you provided with your post. Open the new email from Craigslist and click the link inside. Click "ACCEPT the terms of use" on the page that opens. Type the verification words into the box provided, and then click "Continue." This posts your ad.
