Facebook is a popular social networking site that is used all over the world. It is good for keeping in touch with friends, catching up with old friends, and even meeting new people. Facebook has a handy search tool that allows you to search for friends and family. You can filter your searches by different categories, so even if you forget a person's last name, you will be able to find them as long as you know basic information about them.

Step 1

Type in www.facebook.com on your web browser's address bar. This will take you to the homepage of Facebook, where you have the option to sign in to your account, or sign up for an account. If you do not have an account, sign up for one by following the directions on the page. You will not be able to filter search results if you do not have a Facebook account.

Step 2

Log in to your Facebook account. Type www.facebook.com/srch.php into the address bar of your web browser. This page gives you different options for how to search for somebody.

Step 3

Look over the search options. You can search by name, email address, school and graduating year, the business they work for, or a combination of these.

Step 4

Click on the corresponding Search button to get your search results. If you cannot find who you are looking for, the person may not have a Facebook account or may have changed their privacy settings so they cannot be found through the search engine.
