How to Save New Fonts
By Kristen Waters
Fonts are a set of characters in a particular size and style. The font determines the way that your text will appear in applications such as word-processing and image-manipulation programs. The Windows 7 operating system comes with a standard set of fonts. New fonts are available on websites and through some software applications. Fonts are usually downloaded as zip files. The fonts must be installed before they can be used.
Download or save the font installation file to your hard drive. Some free font websites can be found online.
Click the "Start" button.
Click the "Control Panel" option.
Choose the "Appearance and Personalization" option in the Control Panel window.
Click on the "Fonts" option.
Click the "File" menu at the top of the screen.
Choose the "Install New Font" option from the File menu.
Locate the font installation package in the file browser that appears.
Click the "Install" button to install the font on your computer. You will now be able to use it with any program that allows you to change fonts.
