How to Save Data to a Western Digital My Passport External Drive
By Lindsay Howell
Western Digital's line of My Passport external hard drives make it possible for users to move large amounts of data from place to place more easily. The hard drive connects to the computer via a USB cable that comes with the device, and appears in your Computer window under Devices with Removable Storage. Avoid having to save data to your computer and move it to your external hard drive by saving data directly to the external hard drive.
Connect the external hard drive to an available USB port on your computer.
Open a Web browser, then navigate to the site where the file you want to download is located.
Right-click the file, then select "Save file as."
Click "Computer," then double-click the drive labeled "Passport." The file will be downloaded to the external hard drive. When the file has saved to the drive, a small box will appear in the right corner of the screen.
