How to Get Rid of Websites on Your Computer
By Krystle Vermes
Getting rid of website history from your computer is a great way to free up space and get a clean start with your browser. Deleting the cache and cookies is the easiest way to erase websites from your drive, and it can be done in a few quick steps. You don't have to be a computer expert to keep it operating smoothly.
Launch the Internet Explorer browser by either double-clicking on the icon from your desktop or opening it from its location on your computer (from the Windows Start menu or the Mac OS Applications menu).
Click on the Tools menu and select "Internet Options." You will now see the general Internet options for the browser.
Click on the "Delete Files," "Delete Cookies" and "Clear History" buttons one at a time. Allow the browser time to perform the selected operations.
Restart your browser.
Launch the Mozilla Firefox browser by either double-clicking on the icon from your desktop or opening it from its location on your computer (from the Windows Start menu or the Mac OS Applications menu).
Click on the Firefox menu and select "Preferences." Once the new window opens, click on the "Privacy" tab.
Press the "Show Cookies" button. Here you can either manually clear selected cookies or click "Clear All Cookies" to remove all data from your browser.
Exit this window once you have finished deleting cookies. Open the Tools menu and select "Clear Recent History."
Select how far back you wish to delete your history, or choose everything. Press the "Clear Now" button and all visited sites will be removed from your computer.
- Delete your cookies and cache regularly to avoid needlessly eating up memory.
