How to Get Rid of Pop-Ups on Yahoo!
By Louise Balle
To get rid of pop-ups on Yahoo!, you have to modify your browser settings. Most browsers, such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, have a pop-up tool that automatically blocks pop-up attempts from all websites, including Yahoo!, then lets you allow pop-ups from other websites if you want. This setting change saves you the trouble of having to close pop-ups manually when you visit Yahoo!
Internet Explorer
Step 1
Click "Tools" on the Internet Explorer main menu. Move your mouse to "Pop-up Blocker" on the list of options, then select "Pop-up Blocker Settings."
Step 2
Make sure that "www.yahoo.com" is not listed in the "Allowed sites" area. If so, select it and click "Remove."
Step 3
Select "High: Block all pop-ups." The medium or low setting will still allow some Yahoo! pop-ups to appear, because the website has secure pages (such as email). Click "OK" to save the setting.
Mozilla Firefox
Step 1
Navigate to the "Tools" menu in Mozilla Firefox. Click "Options," then the "Content" tab.
Step 2
Check the option that reads "Block pop-up windows," then click "Exceptions."
Step 3
Make sure that "www.yahoo.com" is not on the "Allowed Sites" list. If it is, select the address and click "Remove Site." Click "Close" when you're done, then "OK" to save the settings.

Tips
- The instructions for most other browsers are similar to Firefox and Internet Explorer.
- You can also use the Yahoo! Toolbar to block pop-ups, but it requires an additional download to your computer and it may not block pop-ups from the Yahoo! website.
