How to Reverse Call Forwarding
By Mandy Slake
Call forwarding allows you to forward calls to another number. It's useful when you need to take calls on another line, such as having calls forwarded to your cellphone from a landline. You can also have your calls forwarded from your cellphone to your landline if your cell phone is lost. Call forwarding can be reversed from your handset, or you can contact your cellphone carrier and have a representative reverse it.
Disable call forwarding from a land line by dialing *73 at the dial tone. If you are using a rotary phone, dial 1173. Listen for a confirmation tone, then hang up.
Reverse call forwarding on a cellphone by dialing 73 or 720 from the phone. Hit the "SEND" key on your cellphone and listen on the line for a confirmation message or beep. Hit "END" to end the call.
Contact your phone service provider if you don't have access to the phone and want to deactivate call forwarding. For cellular phones, you can dial *611 from another phone on the same carrier, or check your bill for the toll-free customer service number.
