How to Restore a Start Menu

by Tiffany Rose

Customizing the Start Menu can be helpful for organizing and quickly accessing your favorite programs and folders. Returning the default settings for the Start Menu will restore it back to original factory settings. Restoring the Start Menu takes only a few minutes and you can customize it again later, should you want to.

Click the "Start" button and open the Control Panel.

Select "Appearance and Personalization." You can make changes to the theme, display, and Start menu here.

Click "Task bar and Start menu" and select the "Start Menu" tab from the menu that opens.

Click "Customize" and click "Use Default Settings" from the options that appear. Click "OK" to apply the changes and close out the screen.
