How to Reset a Viewsat Ultra
By Kallie Johnson
If your Viewsat Ultra satellite TV receiver is freezing or not working correctly, you should reset the unit . A soft reset will unfreeze the unit. A hard reset will restore the unit to its factory default settings, which is beneficial if your satellite system is having problems picking up a signal or doesn't unfreeze with a soft reset. Once the unit is reset, all of your saved preferences, such as TV show reminders, will be lost and cannot be restored.
Soft Reset
Flip the "Power" switch on the back of the Viewsat Ultra to the "Off" position. This is not the same as turning the unit off from the front or using your remote control to turn the satellite receiver off.
Leave the receiver in the "Off" position for 10 seconds.
Flip the power switch back to the "On" position.
Hard Reset
Turn your television off. Flip the "Power" switch on the back of the Viewsat Ultra to the "Off" position.
Unplug the satellite box from the electrical outlet. Unplug any cords connecting the box to your television.
Leave the box unplugged and disconnected for 30 minutes. After the box has been disconnected for 30 minutes, it resets itself to the factory default settings.
Reconnect the TV to the box. Plug the box back into an electrical outlet. Flip the "Power" switch on the back of the unit to the "On" position. Turn the box on from the front or using a remote control. The system will begin searching for settings. This process can take as long as 15 minutes. During this time, do not press any buttons or turn the box off. The box is ready to use when it displays the current time.
