The second generation of Apple's popular iPod Nano features a colored exterior casing and a slimmer design. If your iPod has crashed or frozen, it is important that you reset the unit to restore it. Resetting the second generation iPod only take a few minutes.

Slide the "Hold" switch on the top of the iPod to the right and hold it for three to five seconds.

Slide the "Hold" switch back to the left.

Press and hold the center button and "Menu" button of the second generation iPod Nano.

Release the "Menu" and center button on the iPod after five to 10 seconds. The Apple logo will appear on the screen of the iPod to signal the reset has successfully occurred.
