How to Reset McAfee

by Stephen Lilley

At all times a user of McAfee VirusScan has the ability to make any number of changes to the way the software protects a computer or network. The settings that McAfee used immediately after installation are called the "defaults." If the changes you have made to McAfee have proven unsuccessful, you can restore these default settings at any time using the McAfee SecurityCenter application.

Right-click the "McAfee" system tray icon.

Click "Change Settings."

Click "Advanced" under "Protection Status."

Click "Restore Defaults." Select "Yes" to confirm this action. You have just reset McAfee VirusScan to its default configuration.
