PST files are personal Outlook mail folders stored on the system drive of your Windows computer. Viruses are commonly found in these files, since many computer viruses are spread via infected email attachments. You can remove virus infestations from your computer by scanning your hard drive using the virus removal tools native to your Windows operating system.

Step 1

Click "Start" and type "mrt" in the "Search programs and files" field.

Step 2

Press "Enter" and click "Next."

Step 3

Select "Full Scan."

Click "Next" to scan your PST files and the rest of your drive for viruses.
