How to Remove PDF Security for Free

by Wesley DeBoy

Knowing how to remove the security from a PDF file is a must when you need to copy, edit or print a file that is locked. When a PDF is security-protected, the creator can prevent a user from printing it, editing it, or merging it with another PDF document. By using free software, such as the service found below in "Resource," you can remove the security from a PDF in order to access the editing tools, access the print menu or merge the PDF with another document.

Navigate to, or click on the link below in "Resources."

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Browse" next to "PDF File to Unlock."

Select the PDF file that you would like to remove security from.

Click "Upload" and the PDF will open in a new window with its security removed.

Save the file to your computer and open it with a PDF reader to freely edit and/or print the PDF file. You have now removed PDF security for free.
