How to Remove PDF Print Lock

by Kat Walcott

Some PDF files may be locked by the original creator to disable editing and printing options. Unless you are the original creator, there is no official way to unlock a locked PDF file manually with basic computer and Internet skills. However, an online PDF unlocking program can perform the task in a matter of minutes.

Open up your Internet browser and go to pdfunlock.com.

Click "Browse" on the homepage of the site. Locate and select the PDF file you wish to unlock in the window that pops up.

Click "Unlock." In the window that appears, select the location you want the unlocked version of the PDF file to be stored and press "Enter." The unlocked version of the PDF file should immediately start downloading to your computer.

Warning

  • PDFunlock.com only supports PDF files up to 10 MB in size.
