How to Remove Drums in Audacity

by Shawn Farner

Audacity is an audio editing application that allows you to manipulate audio files with multiple tracks. For example, if you have an song project that has voice, guitar and drum tracks, you can delete the drum track if you want to re-do it, then re-record your drums without having to re-record your voice and guitar tracks. If you have an audio project set up in this manner, you can learn how to remove your drum track in just a few steps.

Step 1

Start the Audacity audio editing application.

Step 2

Click File, then Open and double-click on your song project to open it in Audacity.

Click the "x" in the top-left corner of your drum track. This removes it from the Audacity audio project. Save your changes by clicking File, then Save. You have successfully removed the drums in an Audacity project.
