How to Reinstall McAfee Virus Protection
By D. Wright
If your McAfee anti-virus program becomes corrupted or no longer works properly, chances are you will need to reinstall it. To do so, you will first need to uninstall the program. Reinstalling the anti-virus program is no different than reinstalling any other program. Keep in mind, however, that you will be starting fresh, meaning you will need to update the virus definitions as well as the program itself.
Click on "Start" and select "Control Panel."
Click "Programs and Features" and select "Add/Remove Programs".
Click on the McAfee virus protection software that you would like to uninstall from the Add/Remove programs list. Select "Uninstall." Follow any further directions if you're prompted.
Insert your McAfee virus protection software disc into your computer, or double-click on the program if you purchased it as a download.
Click where you would like to install the software (the default location will be good enough for most users) and keep clicking "Next" until you see the "Install" button. Click the button and wait until your McAfee virus protection software has been successfully reinstalled.
