How to Register a Purchased McAfee AntiVirus Product

After purchasing a McAfee program online or from your local computer software retail store, the program must be registered on the official McAfee website to receive product updates. These product updates keep your software's virus definitions current, preventing new viruses from infecting your computer. Once your product is registered, you will receive free virus definition updates for the length of your McAfee AntiVirus subscription, which is usually one year. To maintain computer protection, renew your subscription annually.

Step 1

Visit the McAfee registration page using the link in Resources.

Step 2

Click the circle next to the option detailing how your software was acquired, and click the "Continue" button to proceed with the registration process.

Step 3

Enter your full name, address, phone number and zip code in the appropriate fields. Enter your email address, and select where you purchased the software.

Step 4

Click the drop-down menu next to "Product" and select the name of your software from the menu. Enter the product identification number found on the bottom of your purchased software box, or enter the activation number sent to your email address after you purchased the software.

Click the "Submit" button to finalize the registration. McAfee will send an email to you confirming the completion of the registration.
