How to Register a Kindle Without Wi-Fi (6 Steps)
By Andrew Tennyson
The Amazon Kindle series of electronic readers lets you download e-books, magazines, newspapers and other digital content via wired and wireless Internet connections. When you first purchase a Kindle, you can register it through the Settings page on the main menu of the device. But this registration method only works if you have access to the Whispernet service via Wi-Fi. If no Wi-Fi connection is available, you can also register your device online using a computer.
Step 1
Launch a new Web browser tab and navigate to the Amazon Kindle Store website (see link in Resources).
Step 2
Click “Manage Your Kindle” on the main horizontal menu along the top of the page.
Step 3
Enter the email address associated with your Amazon account in the “My e-mail address is” field. Enter your Amazon account password in the “Yes, I have a password” field. Click the “Sign in using our secure server” button.
Step 4
Click “Register a New Kindle” under the Your Kindle Account heading.
Step 5
Enter your Kindle’s serial number in the “Register a new Kindle” field. Your serial number can be found on your Kindle’s Settings screen and on the back of the device. The serial number is 16 digits long.
Step 6
Click the “Register a New Kindle” button to register your device.
