How to Register My Dell Computer
By Melody Dawn
Michael Dell founded the Dell Corporation in 1984 in Austin, Texas. The company manufactures made-to-order or configured-to-order desktop and laptop computers. This business model allows Dell to save money on inventory costs and focus attention on tech support and customer service. When you place your order, your computer is automatically registered with your current information. You can register your Dell products online if you purchase them in a kiosk or retail location.
Step 1
Gather your product serial number. This can be found on the box your computer came in. You can also find the number on the back of your desktop computer where all the cords are or on the bottom of your laptop.
Step 2
Go to the Dell Registration website (see Resources) from your Dell computer. You can also contact Dell support at 1-800-624-9896. Give them your information over the phone.
Step 3
Fill in your personal information online. Provide your name, address and phone number.
Step 4
Click on the link to "Find your service tag." This will automatically transfer the information about your computer to Dell.
Step 5
Submit the information. Your computer will be registered as soon as you submit the information. Print out your confirmation.
