How to Recycle Remote Controls
By Emily Manthei
A remote control is one of those pesky small electronic accessories that seems difficult to recycle. While not as well-known a polluter as a television or cell phone, a remote control still contains plastics and toxic parts that should not end up in a landfill. Luckily, there are some electronics companies and recyclers dedicated to making sure that doesn't happen. Be sure you find one of them and recycle that remote.
Go to recycling websites like Earth911.com in the U.S. or RecycleNow.com in the U.K. to look for electronics recyclers in your area.
Donate your remote control to a second-hand store, such as the Goodwill, if it still works.
Drop off the remote at a major electronics store, like Best Buy or Office Depot, to recycle via one of its electronics recycling programs.
Take the remote control at an All Green Electronics Recycling location, or schedule a pickup with the company.
