Shutterfly Studio is a desktop application used to organize and perform simple photo editing tasks. It was supplied free of charge from Shutterfly.com and is no longer supported. If you have photos in this software and want to transfer them to another program or make copies of them, you can copy them from your hard drive. Or, if you used the software to upload them to Shutterfly.com, you have a couple of other options as well.

Copy Photos from Shutterfly Studio

Step 1

Open the folder that contains Shutterfly Studio on your hard drive. This is probably in the "Program Files" folder.

Step 2

Open the folder inside the Shutterfly Studio folder called "Photo Originals."

Step 3

Drag the photos in the "Photo Originals" folder to the desired location. This could be another folder on your hard drive, in which case your computer will likely move the files. It could also be to another drive, memory stick or a CD or DVD, in which case the computer will likely make a copy, leaving the originals in the folder.

Step 4

Import the "Photo Originals" folder's contents into another photo editing and organization software application. This is another way to do the same task, rather than dragging and dropping as in the prior step.

Recover Photos from Shutterfly Website

Step 1

Login to Shutterfly.com and create a Share Site. Click on the "Share" tab at the top of the page. Click on the "Create a Site" button and follow the directions on the screen.

Step 2

Add the albums that contain the pictures you want to download to your share site. If you want to keep your pictures private, click on "Customize" at the top of your site and select "Edit Site Permissions" from the drop-down menu that pops up. You can set a password for your site and limit who can see it.

Step 3

Visit the site you've just created. Click on one of the photos and make it large. Then click on "Download this photo" on the right. You will be able to download a .jpg format of the photo that is 1600 x 1200 pixels. If you want a better quality photo, or if you want to download a large quantity of photos and don't want to save each individually, you can order an archive DVD.

Order an Archive DVD

Step 1

Sign in at Shutterfly.com. Click on the "Store" tab at the top of the page.

Step 2

Scroll down to the "More Products" section and click on "DVDs."

Step 3

Click on the button next to the "Archive DVD" option to start the ordering process. Give the DVD a title and select the album(s) you want to include.

Step 4

Select a recipient from your contact list (probably yourself, unless you are ordering a DVD to be sent to someone else) and select "Checkout" to complete your order, following the prompts until the transaction is complete. There is a small fee for each DVD and possibly an additional cost depending on the number of photos you include. Each DVD can hold up to 5,000 images.

Step 5

Receive your DVD when it is delivered by the shipping company. You will be able to view the photos on your computer or DVD player and copy them to your hard drive if desired. They will be of the same resolution that you uploaded to Shutterfly.com.
