How to Program a GE 4 Device Universal TV Remote Without Codes
By Bryan Roberts
Universal remote controls, such as the ones made by General Electric, allow users to control up to four audio/visual devices in their home entertainment centers. The remote makes use of "program codes" that must be entered into the remote to control the necessary devices. If you own one of these remotes, but do not have the included manual with the necessary codes, you must make use of the remote's "Code Search" function to control your devices.
Turn on the device you wish to program. Make sure no other programmable devices are turned on.
Press the "Code Search" button on your GE remote until the remote indicator is lit, then release the remote.
Press the button for the device you wish to program. For example, if you wish to program your DVD player, press the "DVD" button.
Press and release the "Power" button until your device turns off. Wait at least two seconds between presses of the power button. You may need to press the button up to 250 times before the device turns off.
Press the "Enter" button once the device turns off to save the code in your remote.
