How to Program the Monster Remote by TV Techby Josh Baum
The Monster Remote by TV Tech is one of the most sophisticated multi-system universal remote controls on the market. Instead of using complicated code-based programming instructions, the Monster Remote can be programmed using intuitive, user-friendly computer software. The software does most of the work for you, and you'll only have to answer a few ordinary questions about how you use your entertainment devices and what types of devices you own.
Charge the Monster Remote fully if it is not already charged. To do this, plug the provided charging cradle into an active electrical outlet and put the remote in the cradle. The charging light will blink while the remote is charging and it will shine a solid light when it is fully charged.
Install the computer software that came with the Monster Remote. The software can be found on the accompanying CD-ROM. Simply put the CD-ROM in your computer's CD tray and the installation wizard will start automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions until you are notified that installation is complete.
Plug the supplied USB cable into the remote and plug the other end into an available USB port on your computer. The Monster Remote setup wizard will launch automatically.
Follow the on-screen prompts to set up your personal account. You will need to select and confirm a unique user name and password.
Follow the on-screen prompts to enter information about all of the different devices in your home entertainment system. This includes your television, DVD or Blu-Ray player, VCR, cable or satellite receiver, stereo, video game consoles, DVR units and other multimedia components. You will need to know the type, brand name and model number of each component. You can find this information printed on each component, as well as in the documentation that shipped with each of these devices. Save your device settings when you are finished entering the information.
Answer each of the multiple choice questions posed by the Monster Remote software. These simple, plain-English questions will pertain to the individual activities you may or may not engage in with your home entertainment system. As you answer the questions, the software will build customized sets of instructions for your remote.
Review all of your answers at the end of the question-and-answer process. All of your input will be shown on the screen for you to look over. If you need to make any changes, you can make them on this screen. When you are satisfied with all of your answers, save your settings and hit the "next" button.
Wait as your customized instructions are automatically programmed into your Monster Remote. A status bar on your computer screen will show you the progress of this process. When you are prompted to do so, remove the USB cable from your remote and computer and close the Monster Remote software.
Test your Monster Remote with your home entertainment system to make sure it works properly.
