How to Program an LG Remote to a Philips Blu-ray
By Jeff Grundy
Modern LG TVs have inputs for just about any type of player component or source you can imagine. Additionally, most LG TVs include a universal remote that you can use not only to control the television, but the external components as well. Therefore, if you connected a Phillips Blu-ray player to your LG TV, you can use the television remote to operate the device -- and other sources as well -- instead of letting multiple remotes clutter your coffee table or viewing area.
Using Code Search
Step 1
Power on the LG TV and Phillips Blu-ray player if you have not already done so.
Step 2
Press the "DVD" button on the LG remote if it has one. Alternatively, press the "Mode" button on the LG remote a few times until the LED lights up below the DVD label at the top of the remote.
Step 3
Press the "Power" and "Mute" buttons simultaneously to put the remote into programming mode.
Step 4
Press the "CH+" button repeatedly until the Phillips Blu-ray player turns off. Press the "Exit" button to save and store the programming code for the Phillips Blu-ray player.
Step 5
Press the "Mode" button again until the DVD LED illuminates. Press the "Power" button on the remote to turn the Phillips Blu-ray player on again. Use the LG remote to control the Phillips Blu-ray player normally.

Tips
- For LG remotes, "013" is the primary code for Phillips Blu-ray and DVD players. If "013" does not work with your particular LG remote, though, you can also try the following codes: 031, 033, 034, 054, 067, 071 and 101.
Warnings
- The LG Magic Remote controls the TV and its SMART functions only, and you cannot use it to control a Phillips Blu-ray player. If your LG television shipped with a Magic Remote, it should have a regular TV remote as well. Use the regular TV remote to control the Phillips Blu-ray player or other components.
