How to Program the Key Fob for a Kia Sedona
By Dulce Dretti
The Kia Sedona minivan has an optional keyless-entry system. Replacement remotes can be purchased at the dealership, online or from an electronics store. Remotes purchased online or from electronics stores will require programming.
Open the hood of the vehicle.
Locate the diagnostic plug for the vehicle and remove the cap. The cap says "Diagnostic" on it. The plug will be located behind the battery on the driver's side of the engine.
Look for three jumper terminal rows. The top row has four terminals; the middle and bottom rows have eight. Connect the jumper wire between terminal 12 (middle row) and terminal 16 (bottom row).
Insert the key to the ignition. Turn the ignition key to the "On" position.
Press the "Lock" button on the remote twice.
Turn the ignition key to the "Off" position. Remove the key from the ignition.
Disconnect the jumper cable from the diagnostic connector. Close the hood
Test the remote by pressing the "Lock" or "Unlock" button.
