How to Program an AT&T Uverse Remote Control
By Richard Bowen
You can program your AT&T U-verse remote to operate your TV, Blu-Ray, DVD, stereo tuner and other devices. AT&T U-verse currently has four models of remotes: the S10 and S20 models, the Silver model and the Point Anywhere model. Programming the S10 and Silver versions are similar. To determine which model you have, look on the back of the remote for the model number before you begin.
Manually Program the Silver or S10 Remote to Your Device
Search for the four-digit code or codes for the device in the Manufacture Code List in the AT&T Remote User Guide. There may be more than one possible code.
Press and hold the appropriate mode button (TV, DVD or AUX) on the remote, and press and hold the "OK" button simultaneously.
Release both buttons. The four mode buttons on the remote will flash twice, which indicates you are in programming mode. You now have 10 seconds to enter the code for your device.
Enter a code specific to the brand of your device on the remote’s number pad. If the code you enter is correct, the mode button on the Silver remote flashes three times; it flashes once if the code you enter is incorrect. On the S10 remote, if you enter the correct code, the mode key flashes one long flash; it flashes eight times if you entered an incorrect code.
Press the "Power" button to verify correct operation while aiming the remote at the device. The device turns off if your code is correct. If the device does not turn off, start over using the next code in the list.
Using Auto Search to Program the S10 or Silver Remote to Operate a TV, DVD Player or Other Device
Press and hold both the mode and "OK" buttons on the remote while you aim the remote at the device. The mode and "OK" buttons will flash twice indicating the remote is in program mode. You will have 10 seconds to go to the next step.
On the Silver remote, enter “922” on the keypad. All mode buttons flash twice if you correctly enter this number. Next, for DVD or TV mode, press and release "Play." For AUX mode, press and release "Play," then press "1" for VCR, "2" for receiver or tuner, "3" for amplifier, or "4" for HTIB (home theater in a box). The mode keys flash twice if you entered this number correctly. Finally press "FF" a number of times until the device turns off.
On the S10 remote, there is no need to enter any numbers. Instead, simply press the "FF/Scan" key repeatedly until the device turns off.
Press "Enter" at the bottom of the remote to complete programming.
Manually Programming the Point Anywhere Remote
Go to the Point Anywhere A30 remote user guide to find the code for your device.
Press and hold both the mode and "OK" buttons on the remote while you aim the remote at the device. All the mode buttons flash twice. Listen for two short beeps indicating the remote is in programming mode.
Press the mode button for your device: DVD, TV or AUX. Next press the number for your device while you point the remote at the device. Release the button when the device turns off or when the audio device mutes. The mode button will flash twice and the remote will beep twice if you successfully programmed the remote.
Using Auto Search to Program the Point Anywhere Remote
Press and hold the "Menu" and "OK" buttons for three seconds. The four mode keys will flash twice and you will hear two beeps. You are now in programming mode.
Press the mode button for your device: TV, DVD or AUX. The mode key will illuminate and stay illuminated.
Point the remote at your device. Press and hold "FF." Release this button when the device turns off or when the audio device mutes.
Press the "Power" button to turn on your device or unmute your audio device. Use the volume control to test whether the programming was successful.
Programming the S20 Remote for a TV or Audio Device
Go to AT&T's Quick Start Guide for the U-verse remote for a list of codes for popular TVs.
Press and hold the "OK" and "Menu" buttons simultaneously until the Power key flashes twice, indicating your are in programming mode. This usually takes about three seconds.
Press the "On Demand" button; the Power key will flash, indicating you're in a specific type of programming mode.
Point the remote at your TV. Press and hold the number you noted from the chart for your TV. Release the button when the TV turns off. To confirm operation, use the remote's "Power" button to turn your TV on and the volume control to adjust the volume.
To program an audio device, follow the same instructions, except rather than press the "On Demand" button, press the "Interactive" button to program the audio device.
- Before you begin programming, remove the protective battery strip on the remote and power on the device you want to control.
- Mode buttons on the S10 and Silver remotes are ATT, DVD, TV and AUX.
- The remote works best with fresh, alkaline batteries.
- If you need to return to operating the U-verse Receiver again with the S10 or Silver remote, press the AT&T button.
