Portable document files (PDFs) are one popular way to view and send documents over the Internet. The documents can be secured, making it impossible to alter them once they are created, or PDFs can be saved in a format open to alteration. All PDF files can be printed. If you only need to print one portion of the document, it is possible to zoom and print specific parts.

Step 1

Open the PDF file in Adobe Reader. Zoom into the article by clicking the "+" icon on the toolbar. The document can be zoomed to a magnification of up to 6400 percent. Find the area you want to print by clicking anywhere on the document and moving the mouse.

Step 2

Select the "File" tab in the upper left-hand corner of the screen, then choose "Print" from the drop-down menu.

Step 3

Mark the "Current View" option under "Print Range."

Step 4

Choose "Fit to Printable Area" from the "Page Scaling" drop-down menu. Select "OK" from the bottom of the print screen.
