How to Print to With PaperPort

Setting up your computer to convert documents to the PDF file format ensures you can email, print and share in a format that is widely compatible. The PaperPort platform enables you to convert pictures, spreadsheets, word-processing documents and databases to PDF files. When PaperPort is installed on your computer it adds native print functionality to all compatible programs on your computer so that you can print PDF files to PaperPort in much the same way as you would print documents to a physical printer.

Launch the program you want to use to print to PaperPort.

Click the "Print" icon or click "File" on the program's main menu and select "Print" to load that program's print dialog. How you go about accessing a program's print dialog varies depending on the program you are using. Consult that program's documentation for more information.

Select the list of available print devices and click "PaperPort" or "PaperPort Image Printer" to send the item to PaperPort as a PDF file. At this point, a PDF of the file opens on the PaperPort Desktop screen.

Tips

  • check In some applications, you may need to click "Properties" or a similarly-named button in order to select PaperPort as your print device.
  • check By default, all files are sent to PaperPort as plain PDF image files. However, you can customize PaperPort's settings so that files are sent to PaperPort as searchable PDFs instead. To do this, open PaperPort, click "Desktop," click "Options," click "Item" and select "Searchable PDF."
