How to Play Radio on a PC

The Internet opens a broad index of websites offering a variety of entertainment services, including sites that enable you to play radio on your personal computer. Whether you are a fan of classical music, hip-hop, pop, rock, jazz or R&B, as long as you have an Internet connection, accessing websites that feature the music genre you want to listen to is easy. Best of all, when you want to listen to the radio on your PC, there are several options from which to choose.

Use the National Public Radio (NPR) website to access radio stations on your computer. NPR is a website that offers real-time radio as well as public broadcasts that are archived so you can listen to them whenever you want. When using NPR to play radio on your PC, you will have access to news and talk shows as well as arts and life and entertainment programming. Plus, you will be able to access music stations featuring your favorite style of music. To play radio on your PC with NPR, simply click on any of the tabs displayed on top of the NPR page and navigate to your preferred programs or music station.

Browse to the ChoiceRadio website to play radio. ChoiceRadio is a radio station developed specifically for the Internet. With ChoiceRadio you will have access to all types of music channels, including Hip-Hop, Jazz, New Age, Alternative, Rock and Country. As a ChoiceRadio visitor you can register as a user for free, access forums to interact with other users and get daily music-related news. To use RadioChoice, click on any of the channel selections displayed in the "Channel Selection" box displayed on the upper-right side of the page. When redirected to the channel you chose, click on the "Listen" tab on top of the screen and enjoy the music.

Navigate to the CBC Radio website to listen to the radio on your PC. CBC is a Canadian-based radio station that offers both real-time and archived broadcasts. With CBC you can listen to the radio on your PC by program name and to online music channels. You also have the ability to listen live. CBC radio also features a "Watch" section where you can view news, sports and TV shows on your PC. To play radio on your computer with CBC, click on the "Radio" link displayed on the upper-left side of the page, and when redirected, select the radio program you would like to hear.

  • If you have Microsoft Windows Media Player, RealOne or QuickTime player installed on your PC, you can also access radio stations through your preferred player.
