Decide what kind of file the downloaded movie file is by right-clicking on it and selecting "Properties". Next to "Type of file," you will see what kind it is. Make a note of this.
If the file is .Avi, .Wmv, or an MPEF of any sort, you will be able to use Windows Media Player. Simply open the media player by going to the Start menu and selecting it from the program list. Then open the file you want by going to the file menu and then selecting "Open". Highlight the file you intend to open and press the OK button. Your movie should begin playing momentarily.
If the file uses a Matroska or OGG container, you will need to download Media Player Classic. This player is freeware and natively plays these formats as well as all the other ones supported by Windows Media Player.
