Photos Disappear When Uploading Them on Facebook
By Matt Koble
Facebook photos are a large part of the social networking site. If your photos are disappearing, there are a few steps you can try to solve the issue. The first course of action is to make sure you're uploading the photos correctly. If that isn't the problem, it may be a Facebook maintenance issue that will resolve itself. If all else fails, you can contact Facebook for help with your specific issue.
Properly Uploading Photos
Facebook offers a number of pointers if you're having trouble uploading photos. If they're disappearing as soon as you upload them, it is likely that you are not uploading properly. Photos must be in the JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF or TIFF file format. Facebook also recommends not using pictures larger than 15MB. If you're meeting these criteria, try uninstalling Adobe Flash and installing the latest version (see Resources).
Site Maintenance
Facebook's engineers and technical staff regularly do maintenance on the website to implement new features and fix bugs. During site maintenance, Facebook warns that some of your photos or even entire photo albums may disappear without any obvious reason. Facebook says that such photos typically return within a few hours. If you notice photos suddenly disappearing, wait a while and check again to see if they've returned.
Contact Facebook
Facebook has a page specifically for reporting issues with missing photos and albums. Upon visiting the page (see Resources), Facebook asks for details regarding the incident. To help the site's support with your issue, be as specific as possible when describing your issue. The form also has an area to upload a screenshot, enabling you to visually show Facebook the problem in addition to your written description.
