Realtek audio sound cards feature a graphic equalizer to adjust the sound on your computer to your taste. Because digital audio is now being compressed at different qualities, there is no set equalization that will be ideal for all files. That is why you have to be able to get into the Realtek equalizer to make the proper adjustments. Many Realtek sound card users have reported that their graphic equalizer has disappeared in Windows 7, but restoring it is simple.

Step 1

Download and install the latest drivers from the Realtek website. The company has made the necessary changes so that users can access the equalizer once again with the latest version.

Step 2

Open the Realtek sound card user interface. This will bring you to the screen where you can make detailed settings for the device, and can customize the equalizer.

Click on the "Sound Effects" tab. Right beside the equalizer you will see a box that you will have to highlight with your mouse. When highlighted, it will give you the option to "Change To Graphic EQ." Click on that button to activate the Realtek Equalizer for the device.
