How to Open MTS Files on a Mac

The MPEG-2 Transport (MTS) file is an Advanced Codec High Definition (AVCHD) file that is the extension for tapeless digital camcorders. This file format is only compatible with players specifically designed for viewing MTS files. If you have a Mac computer, you can play MP4 files. With the "Moyea MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac," you can convert your MTS files so that you can view them on your Mac computer.

Launch your Mac computer's Web browser and navigate to Click on the "Moyea MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac" download link to download the file to your computer. At the time of this publishing, the cost for the application is $29.00.

Save the download file to your desktop and double-click it to install it on your computer.

Double-click the Moyea icon to open the program.

Click the "Add" button on the toolbar. Double-click the MTS file you want to open.

Choose "MP4" from the "Format" menu. Click "Convert." You will now be able to open the MTS file and view it on your Mac computer.
