How to Open a Microsoft Outlook Archive Fileby James Robert
Microsoft Outlook's archiving feature allows users to either manually or automatically archive old files, including email messages, email folders and RSS feed items. Typically, archiving is performed for organizational and storage-saving purposes. When Outlook creates an archive file, the contained messages and items are compressed into a single file with the extension ".pst." The archive file is then saved to a location on the user's hard drive. The files compressed into the archive are no longer accessible through the main Outlook interface. However, archive files can be opened by following a simple series of steps.
Open Microsoft Outlook.
Click "File," and then select "Open" from the menu.
Click "Outlook Data File." A new window will pop open.
Click the name or icon of the archive file you'd like to open, and then click "OK."
