How to Open a Device to View Files Using Windows Explorer
By Stephen Lilley
Windows Explorer is the backbone of the Windows operating system. As long as your computer is running, Windows Explorer is loaded into your machine's memory. It is the program that lets you load other programs as well as view the files and folders on your hard drive. If you have an external device that contains files you want to view, you will access them via this all-important Windows Explorer application.
Connect your external device to your computer. Your device will have come with a cable for this purpose (typically USB, but some devices use other cables like FireWire). Connect one end of the cable to the device and one to your computer.
Double click the icon for the device you connected to your computer in Step 1 to view the files contained on it.
