How to Open a DWF File
By Alexander Poirier
The .DWF file extension is primarily associated with Autodesk's AutoCAD application. As such, the AutoCAD application is the most commonly used application when opening a .DWF file. However, while AutoCAD is the most commonly used, it is not the only application that can be used to open a .DWF file, as Autodesk has developed a number of other applications that can do the job as well. If you want to open a .DWF file, you can do so in a few simple steps.
Open the computer's Web browser and navigate to a website that offers an application capable of viewing .DWF files. "AutoCAD," " DWG Viewer" and "Autodesk Design Review" are a few of the applications that are capable of viewing .DWF files.
Download the application to the computer. Once the application is finished downloading, double-click the application's install file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the application on the computer.
Right-click the .DWF file you wish to open and move your mouse cursor over the "Open With" option in the context menu.
Click the "Change default program..." option in the Open With menu. Locate the application you installed in Step 2, highlight it and click the "OK" button to set the application as the default .DWF viewer application.
Double-click the .DWF file to open the file with the application you installed in Step 2.
