Moving emails out of Lotus Notes can be useful for a number of reasons. You may wish to save an email as a text file to aid with backups, to avoid purging or to include the email as an attachment in another email application. The Lotus Notes built-in export function allows you to export your emails quickly and easily.

Open the Lotus Notes email you wish to export.

Click "File" and select "Export."

Browse to the location in which you wish to save the exported email.

Select the format in which you wish to save your document from the drop-down list. You can choose Rich Text Format (RTF) or ASCII text. Both formats are editable with Notepad or a similar application.

Type the name you wish to give the saved document, and click "Export." The email will remain in Lotus Notes, but a text version will be saved on your hard drive in the specified location.
