How to Move Contacts From Windows Live to an iPhone
By Avery Martin
If your iPhone runs iOS 6, you can sync your online contacts with your iPhone. If you manually set up your Windows Live email in the past, you need to first delete the account from your iPhone. Once you have deleted the account, you can set up your Windows Live email address using the "Add Account" option within your mail settings. Apple doesn't provide a separate wizard to differentiate between Hotmail and Windows Live accounts. However, you can use the Hotmail wizard to successfully automate the email setup process.
Tap the "Settings" app on your iPhone.
Tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars." Look for your Windows Live account. You need to delete your email account if the text below your account states "Mail" instead of "Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders." Delete the account by tapping the account name and scrolling down to tap the "Delete Account" button. Confirm by tapping "Delete Account" again.
Select "Add Account..." from the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" settings.
Choose the "Microsoft Hotmail" option. Enter the email address and password in the Email and Password fields. Type an optional description in the Description field to identify your account.
Slide the "Contacts" slider to "On" if it isn't already. Tap "Save."
- Contacts are accessible through supported apps. Mail, Messages and the Phone Book provide options to browse your contacts. Tap "Phone" and "Contacts" to access Contacts directly.
