Measurements for a Sub Box for an Alpine Type R

Alpine Electronics of America has been producing mobile electronics since 1978. Alpine's Type-R series of speakers are preferred by many car audio enthusiasts for sound quality and durability. There are four sizes of the Type-R subwoofer model, ranging from 8 inches to 15 inches, and each speaker can be bought with either a 2-ohm dual-voice coil or a 4-ohm dual-voice coil. No matter which voice coil configuration you use, the box size will be the same.
Measurements for 8-Inch Type-R Subwoofer
If you are building a sealed box for the 8-inch Type-R subwoofer, the recommended external dimensions are 13 inches by 13 inches by 5.5 inches. This will give the box a recommended internal volume of 0.30 cubic feet. The ported box's recommended external dimensions are 11 inches by 8.5 inches by 20 inches. This gives the box the recommended internal volume of 0.70 cubic feet.
Measurements for the 10-Inch Type-R Subwoofer
If you are building a sealed box for the 10-inch Type-R subwoofer, the recommended external dimensions are 12.5 inches by 12.5 inches by 10 inches. This will give the box a recommended internal volume of 0.60 cubic feet. The ported box's recommended external dimensions are 12.5 inches by 12.5 inches by 20.5 inches. This gives the box the recommended internal volume of 1.4 cubic feet.
Measurements for the 12-Inch Type-R Subwoofer
If you are building a sealed box for the 12-inch Type-R subwoofer, the recommended external dimensions are 14.5 inches by 14.5 inches by 10.5 inches. This will give the box a recommended internal volume of 0.90 cubic feet. The ported box's recommended external dimensions are 13.5 inches by 13.5 inches by 24 inches. This gives the box the recommended internal volume of 1.9 cubic feet.
Measurements for the 15-Inch Type-R Subwoofer
If you are building a sealed box for the 15-inch Type-R subwoofer, the recommended external dimensions are 16.5 inches by 16.5 inches by 15 inches. This will give the box a recommended internal volume of 1.75 cubic feet. The ported box's recommended external dimensions are 19.5 inches by 16.5 inches by 20 inches. This gives the box the recommended internal volume of 2.9 cubic feet.
