How to Make Your Own Ringtones for TracFonesby Katrina Matterhorn
TracFone is a prepaid mobile phone service that enables you to purchase only the airtime you need to use instead of signing a contract. Features of the TracFone include text messaging, Bluetooth, speaker phone and a camera. You can add downloaded ringtones to the TracFone. You can also make your own ringtones through online ringtone-making software applications.
Go to a website that enables free ringtone creation (see Resources).
Upload the music file you wish to convert to a ringtone onto the website. Select the times where you want the ringtone to start and end when prompted. For example, if the song is 5:45 minutes long, you can choose for it to start at 1:15 and end at 1:30.
Click on the "Play" button on the website to preview the ringtone.
Select the "Create Ringtone" option. Click "Download" to save the file to the computer desktop.
Open the email account you use. Place the TracFone's phone number in the "Send" line followed by the domain name of your cell phone carrier. For example, type "firstname.lastname@example.org."
Attach the ringtone to the email using the "Attachments" button and send it to the TracFone.
Open the text message you sent on the TracFone. Click "Options," "Save as Ringtone."
- Keep the ringtone to 15 seconds; otherwise it may stall the TracFone's memory.
