How to Make an Ethernet Connection to a Sony Bravia
By Melissa King
Your Sony Bravia television features an Ethernet port that enables you to connect it to the Internet. In this setup, an Ethernet cable connects directly to your router, so you don't need to worry about a dropped or poor-quality wireless signal. When combined with the Bravia Internet Video Link Module, you can stream online content to your TV, including full-length videos from Amazon and Netflix. The connection also allows you to update your Bravia with the latest firmware from Sony.
Step 1
Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the port labeled "LAN" on the left side of the Bravia.
Step 2
Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to a free port on your router.
Step 3
Power on the Bravia and press the "Home" button on the remote control.
Step 4
Press the left or right arrow button to highlight "Settings," then select "Network Connections/Wired/Automatic." The Bravia detects your Internet connection automatically.
Step 5
Select "Test Connection" at the prompt to verify that the Bravia is connected to the Internet.
