How to Look Up Yahoo SMS Text History

by Andrea Ruiz

By default, Yahoo Messenger archives a history of all of your outgoing and incoming chat messages in a "Conversations" folder on your computer as well as in your Messenger account. Because you can also send SMS messages to cell phone numbers using Yahoo Messenger, the system also saves a history of your SMS chats with your contacts. You can access and view this history quickly in both Yahoo Mail's Messenger widget and the stand-alone Messenger client.

Within Yahoo Mail

1

Log in to your Yahoo Mail account, and click the "Contacts" tab in the top menu.

2

Click the contact whose SMS history you wish to view in your list of contacts in the middle panel.

3

Click the contact's cell phone number in the main panel. You can click the cell phone number in either the "Details" section or the main contact information. A pop-up SMS chat box launches in the lower right corner of the screen.

4

Click the "Show Recent Conversations" link in the SMS chat box to view your recent SMS chat history with the user.

5

Click the "Show Full History" link to view your full message history with the user, including all SMS conversations.

Within Yahoo Messenger

1

Launch Yahoo Messenger on your computer, and log in to your Messenger account.

2

Click the "Contacts" tab in the main menu, and then select "Conversation History" in the drop-down menu.

3

Click the cell phone number whose SMS history you want to view in the left panel. Click only on the cell phone numbers, as clicking on the names of your contacts will display the chat history only. The history automatically displays in the main panel.
