YouTube, which allows users to upload and watch videos, is among the most popular video sharing sites on the Internet. After registering for an account, users can create their own personalized channel to upload videos, create playlists, and bookmark their favorite videos. If you are looking for a specific person on YouTube, there are a few easy steps you can take.

Searching for a Person on YouTube

Step 1

Got to the YouTube website (link in Resources).

Step 2

Type person’s name in the search bar and click the "Search" magnifying glass icon.

Step 3

Click the “Filters” button.

Step 4

Select “Channel” under “Results” type.

Find the desired YouTube profile in the search results.

  • Often people do not use their legal name when creating YouTube channels, and use aliases. In this case you need to find out their YouTube username. Because the use of social media is so prevalent, many people connect or promote their social media accounts across platforms. If you can find a person’s Facebook or Twitter account they may list their YouTube account or share their videos on those social networks.
