iTunes Freezes During Sync

When updating your iPhone or iPod, you must sync it up with iTunes. However, if iTunes is crashing and freezing up during the sync process, the updating and additional of files and music to the mobile device is not going to work. In order to correct the freeze issue there are a few methods available that work, although the exact method that corrects your iTunes freeze issue may vary between the given options.

Avoid running multiple programs while running iTunes. The other programs take up RAM from the computer, and if you are running an older computer, the lack of RAM is going to cause the system to freeze.

Connect the iPod into the USB 2.0 port on your computer. This speeds up the data transfer rate and reduces the chances of the computer from freezing. If you are unsure of what port (if any) are USB 2.0, click "Start," "Control Panel," "System," "Hardware" and select "Device Manager." A window appears with all of the hardware installed on the computer. Look through the listing for an "Enhanced" USB port. This is the USB 2.0 connection.

Disconnect the computer from the Internet. Ofte times iTunes is attempting to connect to the Internet while uploading and syncing with the iPod. This may cause the program to freeze. Because of this, it is a good idea to disconnect the computer to prevent any further freezes.
