One such feature is the Facebook business page, and most of its supplemental features. With no more than a personal account, your Facebook business page can be up and running with just a few clicks. It’s a great way to market your business without dipping into your marketing budget. Beware of hidden costs, including staff payroll, consultant fees and paid advertising costs, which you may incur while managing a Facebook business page.

Facebook does not charge for the creation of a company page. The only requirement is a personal Facebook account, which is also free to create. Pages differ from personal Timelines namely in terms of privacy. Pages are public places, which means all content posted is visible to anyone on Facebook. Pages are managed by Admins who either create pages themselves, or are assigned by page creators to help with communication and management.
Pages offer numerous features, including likes, promotions and events, used to stimulate interaction between people who like a page and the page itself. Most of those features, except advertisements, are available to page owners at no cost. Facebook Places pages, which are a function of Facebook business pages, are also free to create or claim. Facebook members check into these pages, sharing their whereabouts and related photos with friends. Some Facebook Places check-in pages offer promotions, such as instant coupons in exchange for checking in. These features, which are all available to page owners at no cost, stimulate the viral experience for which Facebook marketing is so sought-after.

Facebook advertising is an optional, fee-based marketing technique that you can employ if you own a page. Sending paid messages to highly targeted groups puts your brand in front of more people. Narrow your audience according to geographic region, age and interest. Both campaign and pricing are fully customizable, enabling you to set daily amounts for how much you want to spend and never go above your budget. Create and test multiple ads with measurable results to determine which are most effective. Prices depend on a cost-per-click or cost-per-impression advertising model. It all comes at a price, but that price is set by you.
Page Management Costs
Costs may derive from paying a staff member, marketing consultant or other external source to manage your Facebook marketing campaign. If you’re managing it yourself, especially if you’re learning as you go, the time you invest can add up, creating a costly backup of your remaining business management duties.
