How to Install the Volume Control on the Taskbar
By Tim Mammadov
The volume control icon in the notification area of the taskbar in Windows is placed next to the clock. In addition to the system icons, Windows also shows icons of currently running programs in the same area of the taskbar. You can show or hide system icons, including power, network, clock and volume. If Windows does not show the volume icon, you just need to enable it.
Right-click the tasbkar anywhere in a blank space. Select "Properties."
Click the "Taskbar" tab in the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window. Click the "Customize" button in the "Notification area" section.
Click "Turn system icons on or off" in the "Notification Area Icons" window.
Click the "Volume" drop-down menu in the "System Icons" window and select "On." Click "OK" to close the window.
- You can also run a free "Fix it" tool by Microsoft if you have tried the described method with no results (see Resources.)
