How to Install a SIM Card on a Lenovo X201
By C. Taylor
The Lenovo ThinkPad X201 is a powerful, ultra-portable laptop that offers a wealth of security, productivity and Internet connectivity features. One notable feature is the ability to connect to the Internet wirelessly through your cellular network. To enable this feature, the network must be able to locate and uniquely identify you through a "subscriber identification module," or SIM card. Although not immediately obvious, the SIM card is easily installed through the X201 battery compartment.
Step 1
Turn the Lenovo X201 upside-down with the battery facing you. The battery is located on the back of the phone.
Step 2
Slide the right-hand battery lock to the unlocked position, indicated by an "open padlock" icon.
Step 3
Slide the left-hand battery lock to the unlocked position and hold it in place.
Step 4
Slide the battery toward you to remove it from the Lenovo X201.
Step 5
Align the SIM card with the SIM card slot, located at the top of the battery compartment on the left.
Step 6
Push the SIM card into the slot, using gentle pressure, until it is fully inserted. When installed, half the length of the SIM card should protrude from the slot. If you cannot push the SIM card into the slot, reposition the card and retry.
Step 7
Align the contacts on the battery with those in the battery compartment and slide the battery firmly in place.
Step 8
Slide the right-hand battery lock to the locked position.
