How to Install a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 2.0 Model 1008
By Rex Molder
The Microsoft model 1008 wireless optical mouse 2.0 connects to your computer through an RF USB dongle, and uses the Microsoft Intellipoint software bundle. The bundle allows users to customize the mouse's features. Although this software usually downloads and installs automatically when you attach the mouse to your computer for the first time, occasionally you'll need to manually install the software. The only information you need is the version of the operating system you are currently using.
Open a Web browser and go to the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0 download page.
Click the drop-down menu at the top of the page, then select your operating system and version from the list.
Click the red "Download" button next to the the Intellipoint software version found for your operating system to download it. The download should start automatically and save to the default download location on your computer, which is usually the Downloads folder.
Locate the file you downloaded, then double-click it to install the software. Click "Yes" if you are prompted to confirm the installation. The software will then install. Click finish when the process completes.
Insert the battery into the bottom of your optical mouse and plug the USB wireless dongle into an available USB port on your computer. The operating system will automatically recognize the newly installed mouse.
