How to Install iPod Shuffle Software
By Sarai Jeremiah
The iPod shuffle by Apple has internal software that lets you sync it with Mac and Windows computers. To access the software, you must have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. The iTunes software is required to set up your iPod shuffle and lets you sync, play, import and buy music, movies, audiobooks, games and apps. Unlike older iPods, the iPod shuffle does not come with a CD install disc.
Open your Web browser and navigate to apple.com/itunes and download the latest version of iTunes.
Double-click iTunes and follow the prompts to install the software.
Launch the iTunes software on your computer.
Plug the iPod shuffle into the Shuffle Dock, then plug the USB connector into an available USB port on your computer.
Wait for the iPod shuffle Setup Assistant to appear and begin installing your software.
Type a name for your iPod when prompted.
Choose whether or not you want iTunes to automatically sync and update your iTunes playlists and library every time you connect your iPod shuffle.
Choose whether or not you want iTunes to automatically copy photos from your computer to your iPod shuffle.
Click "Next" when you are done choosing your settings.
Click "Register My iPod," if desired, then click "Finish" to complete the installation process. The iPod shuffle software is now installed and your iPod shuffle is ready to use.
